We are pleased to present the 2nd newsletter of NESTLER, offering a comprehensive overview of the project’s news, recent developments and ongoing activities. We invite all stakeholders, policy makers, researchers, farmers, and agri-tech providers, to stay informed and engaged with NESTLER’s ongoing work.
NESTLER is a joint project between the EU and African member states designed to promote One-Health sustainable partnership. With the collaboration of partners across Europe and Africa, the project aims to bring together interdisciplinary technological advances to effectively monitor the well-being of animals, plants, and humans in a holistic approach.

Farmers participated in a training program on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae farming, using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) developed under the NESTLER Project. Protein derived from Black Soldier Fly larvae meal has the potential to replace soybean or fish meal protein in aquaculture feed.

Replacement of Fishmeal with Black Soldier Fly Larvae Enhances the Growth Performance of Nile Tilapia.

NESTLER has published a study based on an experiment conducted under the project’s fish pilot in Ethiopia. The study demonstrates that Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) can completely replace fish meal (FM) without negatively impacting the growth of Nile tilapia or water quality parameters.
