In collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the University College of London (UCL), the first SynField smart agriculture system was installed in Ibadan, Nigeria. SynField, developed by Synelixis, offers remote monitoring of the environmental and soil parameters prevailing in the area. Furthermore, the system also enables remote control irrigation management. The data from the sensors will provide valuable insights regarding the key factors that affect crop growth and health.

This initiative aims to pave the way towards sustainable agriculture by harnessing the power of Internet of Things (IoT) technology. This installation was conducted within the context of the NESTLER project pilot activities. The pilot in Nigeria is one of six in total pilot demonstrations of the project. The other five pilots will be conducted in Cameroon, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Kenya, where additional IoT devices will be installed.

NESTLER is committed to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between leading institutions, researchers, and stakeholders. By bringing together multidisciplinary expertise, we aim to address the complex challenges facing the agricultural sector and promote sustainable development in Europe and Africa.
